Since he was just a niño, El Luchador dreamed of one day being Mexico’s greatest wrestling champion. And as soon as he was able, he spent every waking minute working on high-flying moves, stitching together a skin-tight sequined costume from scraps found in the dusty streets of Oaxaca, and bulking up with his mama’s simple, filling and delicious tacos.
After years of training, he finally made it into the ring for his very first official match. But as the referee was explaining the rules, he uttered two words that would change the course of El Luchador’s life forever: “no biting”. And it was at that moment that our hero was forced to choose between his two great loves: squashing opponents’ skulls like grapes or taking big bites of tasty, wonderful tacos. He knew what he had to do.
After forfeiting his match, El Luchador was offcially banned from the ring. And so, dejected, he left Oaxaca in search of a new home — a place where people love tasty tacos, cold cervesas and good amigos as much as he did. After many years of searching, he finally found that place right here in Wichita. And to this day, you can find our hero right here in The District, slinging piping hot Mexican street food and singing some old folk song about Home Sweet Taco. He’s usually off key and frankly, we think he made it up, but he’s got the secret recipe for the pastor, so what are you gonna do, you know?
